Du 16 au 24 février prochain, la formation originaire de Liège en Belgique reviendra interpréter son plus récent album, The Tragic Tale of a Genius, une oeuvre conceptuelle fascinante parue au pays sur l’étiquette Lazy At Work / SÉLECT.

Vendredi 17 février – Montréal @ L’Astral (avec Hôtel Morphée) à Montréal en Lumière
Samedi 18 février – Chicoutimi @ Le Sous-Bois (avec Les Survivants)
Jeudi 23 février – St-Hyacinthe @ Le Zaricot
Vendredi 24 février – Québec @ Le Cercle (avec Été 67)

Ce retour s’effectue à la demande populaire, après un passage remarqué en 2011 à la Canadian Music Week, au Festival Under the Snow, au Cercle à Québec en première partie de Plants & Animals, et sans oublier il y a 2 ans leur époustouflant concert à Pop Montréal où ils avaient subjugué le public de The Dears. Depuis 2010, MLCD collectionne les honneurs du public et de la critique européenne en étant notamment 2 fois lauréats aux Octaves de la Musique (Artiste de l’année et Album de l’année) et Révélation de l’année au respecté magazine belge Le Vif Focus. À découvrir d’urgence!!!

Il rassemble des chansons qui marquent la fin d’un chapitre et le début d’un autre en format cassette (sur l’Oeil du tigre) et numérique (sur Lazy at Work).
Auto-réalisé par le groupe, Wapizagonke met en scène de multiples couches de sons qui créent une profondeur musicale sans précédent dans son histoire. Les guitares se mélangent allègrement aux claviers pour créer des ambiances parfois calmes et mélodiques, parfois rythmées et grondantes, et laissent à Mia Verko la liberté de rester fidèles à ses influences indie, math et post-rock.
Wapizagonke donne suite à L’Imbroglio du scaphandrier (2006, indépendant) et Mia Verko (2004, Cartel/The Mintaka Conspiracy), deux sorties remarquées qui ont permis à la formation de partager les planches avec de nombreux artistes influents dont Sebadoh, Ted Leo, The Dismemberment Plan, Rockets Red Glare, Engine Down, The Weakerthans, Lymbyc Systym, Maps & Atlases et Snailhouse.

Just wanted to wish you all the best for 2011 and tell you that we’ll have some pretty sweet albums coming out in the next few months! Not only that, but our family keeps getting bigger and bigger and we feel privileged to be surrounded by so much talent!

So… what’s new on our end? Keep an eye out for Harvee’s new album Furie coming February 1st 2011. Also Belgium’s MLCD (My Little Cheap Dictaphone) will be finally releasing their amazing album The Tragic Tale of a Genius with us on February 22nd! They will also be gracing us with their presence very soon, coming down for Canadian Music Week and playing a few shows while they are here. Camaromance will have some great news soon but we’ll keep it hush hush for now and our friends Gatineau will be releasing their new album Karaoke King on C4 in March so be sure to check that out!

Sur Dehors, la chanson folk se veut contemporaine et se prête aussi bien aux 6 pièces francophones qu’aux 4 anglophones.

Dès la première écoute, on comprend que la poète et multi-instrumentiste Meb connaît bien la chanson. Rien n’est laissé au hasard. Sa voix riche, chaude et posée laisse tout l’espace nécessaire à des textes soigneusement agencés aux couleurs de sa musique. Les arrangements signés Colin Gagné sont planants, justes et portent à la rêverie. On pourrait faire un parallèle entre l’univers de Meb et ceux de Émilie Proulx, Barbara Carlotti, Krista Muir, Monsieur Mono, Rufus Wainwright…
